Would you buy ice cream from a butcher?

I didn't think so.

That's exactly the way I feel about buying bags from a shoe designer, credit cards from the kardashians or perfume from Paris Hilton.

So when Christian Louboutin began its foray into the world of pursedom, I drew a heavy sign at the commonplace chain handles and the general lack of imagination that the first collections exhibited.

This was until I recently saw the Louboutin Miss Rope Capra Bag- yours from Net-a-porter for £995.

I despair that the pictures make the bag look utterly ghastly, when in life it is so perfect (trust me on this one) . The proportions. The shape. Comfortable to carry and suitably neutral for a day look and very classy looking. Please see it in the flesh (Selfridges) if you can- it is insanely stunning.

Now I know where my next paycheck is going!!

Favourite Looks: Zuhair Murad SS11

Here are what in my opinion are the best looks from Zuhair Murad's opulent SS 2011 collection. I have stuck to the more muted colours rather than the peacock blue and yellow gowns he did because I have developed an aversion to brightly coloured evening wear- tacky if you ask me.

I am hoping to see at least some of these dresses at the Oscars, especially the asymmetrical gown with the cut-out sides. Although I am not quite sure about the proportions of the dress, the slit is too small and therefore the brocade looks a little overpowering and 'stumpifies' the legs. But I am sure whoever wears this piece will have it modified for the red carpet.

Who I would like to see wearing these: Jennifer Lopez, January Jones, Megan Fox in the shorter lengths, Beyonce.

A fantastic mini dress. The embellishment is exquisite.

My favourite of the full length gowns.

Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice, and need...

...Voltaire certainly got the last two right.

So it has been a REALLY long week for me. I obviously spent the entire week working overtime in my windowless office. 7 hours into my day I was literally getting major cabin fever and began to fantasise about a weekend spent in idle bliss: reading, eating and lying in bed.

Also we are not allowed to check personal emails and all internet browsing in MONITORED. So in lieu of checking net-a-porter, I was reading industry reports and compiling evidence for hearings.

I might buy a cactus and put it on my desk- or at least some art to pin to my bare pin-board.

It's Magic- you know

This dress is magic. LOVE the colour. Love the print.

Most Sensational Outfits of 2010?

Blake Lively was singlehandedly responsible for the top three most sensational looks on the red carpet this year- even if she does assiduously  break the boobs and legs rule.

Here are her best moments:

1. Blue Marchesa Dress- my personal favourite
2. Yellow Marchesa
3. The rest: Chanel

This is what they call getting carried away.

This is my latest polyvore set. Would wear this on a summery date- although maybe not all of it.

Turquoise Sighs

bib necklace

Turquoise is my all time favourite colour for jewellery. This bib necklace by Roberta Chiarella is exactly my style and had me rushing for my wallet. Always apprehensive about ordering online, I hope that this is what I expect when it arrives!

1930s Society Belles

Here are some vintage movie cards of 1930s movie stars. There is such a graceful and melancholic quality to them.

Would love to have these framed around my bedroom - or dressing room (if I had one).

Vicky Hanushka Barcelona

Got back from Barcelona on Saturday. It totally exceeded by already high expectations.

Narrow rambling streets flanked by faded 18th century houses and  balconies heavy with the weight of freshly washed linen and thirsty looking plants. Faded gothic splendour and surreal modernist buildings with twisted turrets and grand colourful roofs. Orange trees bursting with fruit (in January!). Disgruntled taxi drivers and atrocious Catalan cuisine.

But all of it so charming and utterly magical.

Same dress, different girl? Not quite. January Jones as Versace's ambassador wore this red Versace dress to this years golden globes.  Since this dress is this seasons it is odd that its identical to VBs, only it's not.

VBs is Cavalli's and was worn to Elton John's wedding in 2005.

Here are both on the runway.
